Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana Worship and Study Mission TripWednesday, 15 June through Friday, 1 July 2011 Approximate cost: $4,100
This price includes round trip airfare from Detroit to Accra, group transportation within Ghana, all expenses including lodging and meals in Akropong and in the Ho-East Presbytery, lodging with breakfasts during travel days. Remaining meals will be modestly priced in good restaurants. Highlights include:• Worship on two Sunday mornings with Ghanaian Presbyterians.
• Attend a 3-day conference at the Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission, and Culture (ACI) located in Akropong-Akuapen, Ghana, followed by a 2-day Ghana Mission Network (GMN) meeting.
• Spend five days in the Ho-East Presbytery with partner congregations for worship, fellowship, celebrations, special projects, and home stays. • Visit craft/ artisan markets in Accra and elsewhere during travel days.
• In lieu of the ACI conference and the GMN meeting in Akropong or as an optional trip extension, one may tour two coastal fortresses that served as slave dungeons, make a visit to the Kakum National Park with the canopy walk through the rain forest, and visit other historic sites.

Fall 2010Several members from the Presbytery are participating in a trip to Ghana from June 15-30. Highlights of the adventure include worshipping two Sundays “Ghanaian” style; attending a two-day conference covering the history of Christianity and spirituality in Africa; participating in the two-day Ghana Mission Network meeting,;visiting artisan & craft markets; and spending five days with our partners in the Ho-East Presbytery. HistoryThe history of the relationship between the Presbytery of Lake Michigan and the Ho-East Presbytery began with two quite separate congregation to congregation partnerships, one dating back to 1979-1980 and the other dating back to 1990-1991. |
