Self- Development of People (SDOP) Mission

The Self-Development of People is a ministry that affirms God's concern for humankind. We are Presbyterians and ecumenical partners, dissatisfied with poverty and oppression, united in faith and action through sharing, confronting and enabling. We participate in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed and disadvantaged people who are seeking to change the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression and injustice.

Grant Application Process

In order to assess equitably all the applications for grants, the Committee on Self-Development of People has adopted an application form for its monies.

Please complete the application form providing the proposal outline requested and answering the questions as completely as possible. The Committee will need fourteen (14) copies of the completed application form. You may want to include material you have already developed for your community of need. Letters and supporting documents from others in the area who have worked with and/or support your community of need will also be helpful. Please mail your application packet to be received at the Presbytery office no later than September 1 to:

Presbytery of Lake Michigan
1511 Helen Avenue
Portage, MI 49002

To learn more about the application process and criteria, please visit the Self-Development of People website, www.pcusa.org/pcusa/wmd/sdop/index.html
